Meet The Face Behind Simple Elegance

I’m Mary Scalli, proud owner of Simple Elegance.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I began my career in the hotel industry, but after holding several management positions, I learned that this was not the ideal career for a balanced work-family life. I then moved into the retail industry, where I quickly moved up the ladder to District Manager with Talbots. My dream was to land my own business eventually. But after my son was born, life called me to be a stay-at-home mom.

When he was about five years old, one of my best friends invited me to join her as a partner in a small interior design company on Cape Cod, and I was just thrilled. I was one step closer to my dream. It was here where I found a real passion for interior design.

Five years later my husband was transferred to Houston, and I opened Simple Elegance Texas in 2010. In 2014, we added home staging services, in addition to custom window treatments, Hunter Douglas Shutters and Shades, and interior design services.

When I started the business, it was me, myself and I. Today, we have two sales representatives, one staging and warehouse manager and one assistant staging and warehouse manager, a project manager and an Allied ASID Interior Designer (American Society of Interior Designers). In addition, we have three contract (Accredited Staging Professional) ASP stagers and two contract movers.

All of our team is ASP trained, and I’m an ASPM (Accredited Staging Professional Master), luxury staging specialist, buyer trend specialist and senior relocation specialist. For the staging portion of the business, we own all of our furniture and accessories and can stage any home. I feel like the team compliments each other so well. It’s the dream team!

I love serving our clients and sharing God’s wonderful love with them all. The most rewarding part of the home staging business is when we transform a home into a house that hits the market and gets an offer within just a couple of days. On the interior design side of the business, the most rewarding part is to see a client fall in love with their home all over again.

In order to service our clients in the best way possible, Simple Elegance is dedicated to excellence in customer service - always doing what is right for the customer. We also have our own policies on how to create an exclusive experience that makes us stand out from competitors.

In home staging, educating realtors and sellers on the importance of home staging and what sets Simple Elegance apart from other staging companies in Houston. In interior decorating we make sure we fully understand our clients’ needs and then serve them with a fabulous end product at a reasonable price.

As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my faith, and I attribute my success to God. As a team, we put God first in everything and therefore have a very strong set of values at Simple Elegance. We have a clear-cut vision to stay focused on the big picture and its endless potential and possibilities. We strive for excellence and go over and above in all we do.

Our integrity ensures that we do what is right and we are 100% responsible for all the choices we make, what we do and what we don’t. We realize that great results come from goals and our results determine the success of ourselves and our team. 

Focus is important as well. We are always focused on productivity and income-generating activities. We always take the initiative and think ahead to anticipate next process steps in everything we do. We have the responsibility to keep everything related to the company well organized, clean and everything in place.

As a team, we recognize each person’s God-given talents and encourage them in these. At the end of it, we make sure we have fun in all we do. What gives me immense satisfaction is building the business together with an incredible team and being able to serve amazing customers together.

When I am not at work I love to ski, take vacations, spend time with my family, shop and share the love of Jesus with others and that all would come to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
